Shel-Bar Electronic Industries Ltd. started in 1972 and has grown to currently employ 20 people. Shel-Bar is a fun loving, community minded, supportive group that has been involved with the Airdrie 1st Club since 2018. They provide holiday spirit and community cheer by decorating their trucks and assisting us with delivering Christmas hampers.
In 2018 Shel Bar initiated a company policy to give back to the community. This initiative was put forward to the employees and they voted on which club they were going to support. Employee Martin Smith expressed a desire to give back through our club. That year, Martin and other employees delivered to several families and were greatly touched and impacted by the Christmas Hamper Program. Martin lost his battle with cancer in 2019. Today Shel-Bar honours him by putting their Dream Catcher logo on all of their vehicles. It simply states “Family, Brother and Friend.”
Shel-Bar continues to support the Airdrie 1st Program by providing traffic control and delivery of Christmas Hampers. They have already pledged their help for future years. They have expressed their desire to include their families, so that they can all share in the joy of giving back to the community. We will certainly try to accommodate this request. We are so honoured to have them support us year after year.
